At a glance

Party level 1st
Started in Red Larch
Ended on The road northwest of town, after meeting wolves

Summary

The party arrived in Red Larch and made The Helm at Highsun their first stop. Garlen Harlathurl (the tavern keeper) told them Waelvur's Wagonworks was in trouble — Ilmeth Waelvur had been missing. After the lockup, the party asked at Thelorn's Safe Journeys too; the Thelorns didn't know anything. They found Waelvur's messier but got directions to the hunting cabin. On the road, Togar calmed a wolf pack with magic.

What happened

  1. The party reached Red Larch and went to the Helm at Highsun.
  2. Kiara tried to order drinks for the group but didn't have enough coin. Genericus Maximus paid — and made a remark about her being poor. (Kiara hasn't forgotten.)
  3. Garlen Harlathurl, who runs the Helm, told them Waelvur's Wagonworks was having problems — wagonmaker Ilmeth Waelvur had been missing and the shop was struggling.
  4. The party visited the Red Larch Lockup and spoke with two prisoners: Jack Mack and William Theodore.
  5. The party went to Thelorn's Safe Journeys, the other wagon shop in town, and talked with Thorsk Thelorn and Asdan Thelorn to see if they knew anything about Ilmeth. They didn't.
  6. The party thought Thelorn's was nicer than Waelvur's and wondered how two wagon shops could both stay in business so close together in a small town.
  7. At Waelvur's Wagonworks, a shop assistant suggested Ilmeth might be at his old hunting cabin northwest of town.
  8. The party left Red Larch heading northwest. On the road they encountered a pack of wolves. Togar used druid magic to calm the animals rather than fight. The session ended on the road, still heading toward the cabin.

Key moments

  • Helm drink incident — Genericus covered Kiara's tab and insulted her; tension between them started here.
  • Garlen's tip — first solid lead on Ilmeth / the wagonworks trouble.
  • Two wagon shops — Thelorn's impressed the party; Waelvur's felt cheaper and messier; nobody understood how both survive in Red Larch.
  • Wolves on the road — Togar chose a nonviolent approach with nature magic.
